Sometimes you must cope with adversity. If you feel as if your life is being attacked from many angles—physically, socially, financially and emotionally—or you feel hopeless, your medical case manager can refer you to agencies that can provide counseling services.

If you are using illegal drugs or abusing legal drugs, individual sessions with a substance abuse counselor and an addiction support group is available for you on-site. There may be times where participation in substance abuse treatment is required for you to receive other services offered at AID Upstate, especially if it significantly interferes with medical care treatment and overall health. If more intense treatment is necessary, the substance abuse counselor will make the appropriate referrals to outpatient and inpatient programs offering you a higher level of care.
